RESULTS OF 27TH SCENIC SINKHOLE SCRAMBLE 5K AND 2 MILE

On Saturday, August 8th, 2009, the 27th Annual Scenic Sinkhole Scramble was held in conjunction with the Koochiching County Fair.  Prior to getting into the results, I need to acknowledge some organizations and individuals who sponsor the event and help organize and work at various jobs.  Sponsors for the Scenic Sinkhole Scramble are the Koochiching County Fair, Deerwood Bank of Northome, the Northome VFW, the Northome American Legion, and Nei Bottling of Bemidji.  Helping with various jobs at the races were Marion Swang, Karen Lorenzen, Sarah Waldo, Juleen Trisko-Schneider, John Lorenzen, Aaron Lorenzen, Preston Miller, Jessie Miller, and Jackson.  Without their help and sponsorship, this event could not take place.  A special thanks to all of them.

This year, we had 140 individuals register and 135 complete the races.  That is a new participation record for this event.  We will start with the results for the 2 mile race and the male division.  6 - 10 year old, 1st - Levi Lindner: 18:04, 2nd - Benji Jourdan: 18:25, 3rd - Peyton Johnson: 20:51.  11 - 14 year old, 1st - Christian Jourdan: 13:04, 2nd - Jake Wicklund: 15:44, 3rd - Matthew Jourdan: 15:45.  15 - 19 year old, 1st - Gave Wicklund: 14:01, 2nd - Dillon Grimm: 16:48, 3rd - Erik Shriner - 34:27.  20 - 24 year old, 1st - Brodie Baird: 34:24.  30 - 34 year old, !st - Brian Barden: 26:38.  35 - 39 year old, 1st - Jason Dinham: 19:36, 2nd - Wayne Johnson: 26:09, 3rd - Jamie Hooper: 26:50.  40 - 44 year old, 1st - Keith Lindner: 18:05, 2nd - Brad Burkhalter: 20:58, 3rd - Richard Ernst: 36:04.  50 - 54 year old, 1st - Dan Sherman: 32:55.  55 - 59 year old, 1st - Daniel Siats: 29:48.  70 years old & over, 1st - Robert Fox: 29:34, 2nd - Ron Lindner: 29:46, 3rd - Harold Snyder: 42:01.  A little side note concerning Harold, he is 88 years old and the oldest participant that we have ever had in the 27 years that we have done this.  We were all very impressed with his effort and family support.
