April 13, 2009: How to track me!
I had an awesome 10 mile run yesterday! I went home for Easter, so I got to head out with my running buddy Mike again. It was beautiful weather out and I felt great.
We did an out and back course and I was rather noticing that we were heading downhill a lot on the way out. Happily, Duluth has forever changed my view of hills and I didn't even notice that we were heading uphill on the way back. I also ran negative splits and did 8 minute miles on the way back. Oops . . . Someone's a little excited, huh?
One week!! If people feel like tracking me, it sounds as though the best thing to do is head to the Boston Marathon website that morning - they say the site face will change and it will be obvious where to go and what to do. The site is updated at every 5K split. My race number is 14,800. I'm not sure if they do things the same way Green Bay did, ie updating with gun time and not chip time but it should be obvious which it is right away. They only fire the gun once when Wave 1 starts. I'm in Wave 2 which starts a half hour later so if my first mile takes me 39 minutes or so, you know they're using gun time! I start at 10:30 Boston time, so 9:30 Minnesota time. Hopefully, I'll be done before 2:30 Boston time.
I have lists of what to bring started. Now it's time to figure out what bags to pack - with all my racing gear in my carry on, of course! They make you ditch your warmups/gear bag at the athlete's village and then you have to walk over half a mile to the start and hang out there. So I'm thinking I'm going to head to Saver's and get some super cheap sweats and change into those as I head to the start and ditch them there. The BAA donates all the abandoned clothing from the starting line to charity.

Good luck to you....what I've done in the past is get layers of clothing at Goodwill.
Thanks, guys!
Goodwill would have been my other option but man do I love the new Savers up by Target! Granted, I've only been there once, but it was nice.
Isn't my number awesome, Tim? I was happy that I had a nice even number. I guess someone has to get them, huh?
Good luck Sam!!
